Privacy Policy

The short version: Cursive Lens has no account and no cloud archive. Your documents, page images, transcripts, and tags are stored on your device. The one exception is transcription itself: to read a page, that page's image is sent to Google's Gemini model for processing and the text comes back to your phone. We operate no server that stores your images or transcripts.

1. Who we are

Cursive Lens is published by Adelyons Software LLC ("we", "us"). You can reach us at dev@adelyons.com.

2. What stays on your device

Cursive Lens has no account system, so there is nothing for us to attach data to. The following are stored only on your phone and are never transmitted to us:

The page images you capture, import, or open from a PDF
Transcripts, summaries, and the people, places, and dates extracted from a document
Your edits and corrections, document titles, tags, and search history
Your settings and free-transcription counter

There is no sign-up, no login, and no cloud backup. Because we never receive this data, there is no account for you to delete and no server-side copy for us to erase.

3. AI transcription — what leaves your phone

When you tap to transcribe, and only then, the image of the page (or pages) you selected is transmitted for AI processing, together with the document-type, era, and language hints you chose. The generated transcript, summary, and extracted entities are returned to your device and saved there.

Who processes it. Transcription is performed by Google's Gemini model. Your request travels from your device to a function we operate on Supabase, which forwards it to Google and returns the result to your phone.
What we keep. No content. We hold no copy of your images, transcripts, or summaries — the processing is transient. To prevent abuse of the AI service, our function records a random install identifier and a monthly count of transcriptions; that counter contains no document content and is not linked to your identity.
What is sent. Only the pages of the document you chose to transcribe, plus your hints. Documents you never transcribe, your library, your edits, your titles, and your tags are never uploaded.
No identity attached. There is no account, so requests carry no name, email, or profile of yours — only the random install identifier described above, which identifies a copy of the app, not you.
Google's handling. Google processes the request as a service provider under its own terms and may retain data briefly for abuse prevention and service operation. See Google's Privacy Policy.
Sensitive documents. Historical records can name living people and contain personal details. Please only transcribe documents you have the right to use, and bear in mind that the pages you transcribe are transmitted to Google for processing as described here.

Transcription requires an internet connection. Everything else in the app — reading, editing, searching, exporting — works offline.

The decipher tool on this website

The free decipher tool works the same way for one word. Your photograph stays in your browser; only the small crop you draw around a word, with the script, language and context hints you chose, is sent through our Supabase function to Gemini, and the candidate readings come back to the page. We keep no copy of the crop or the readings. To stop the free tool being drained, the function counts readings per month against a one-way, salted hash of your IP address; the address itself is not stored, and the count holds no image or text.

4. Purchases

If you buy Cursive Lens Pro, the purchase is processed by Apple or Google and validated through RevenueCat, Inc. To do this, a purchase record and an anonymous app-instance identifier are shared with those providers. This data is used only to verify your purchase and is not linked to your identity by us. We never send them your documents or transcripts. See RevenueCat's privacy policy, and Apple's or Google's, for how they handle purchase data.

5. Device permissions

Camera — used only when you choose to scan a document. Images are saved to your device; they are transmitted only if you then transcribe them.
Photos — used only when you choose to import an image of a document.

You can grant or revoke these permissions anytime in your device settings.

6. Analytics and tracking

Cursive Lens does not track you and contains no advertising. We do not collect analytics about the content of your documents or transcripts, and we do not sell or share personal information.

Invite a Friend (Optional)

Cursive Lens includes an optional invite feature: if a friend enters your invite code, you both receive 30 days of Cursive Lens Pro at no charge. When — and only when — you open the invite screen or enter a code, the App sends the following to our invite service (hosted on Supabase) so the free month can be granted through RevenueCat:

A random installation identifier generated on your device the first time the invite screen is used. It is a random value, not a device or advertising ID.
Your RevenueCat customer identifier, so the free month is applied to the right customer.
The six-character invite code being created or redeemed.

That is the entire payload. Nothing else you have entered or created in Cursive Lens is involved in the invite feature, and we do not learn your contacts or who you shared a code with.

7. Children

Cursive Lens is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

8. Your control

Deleting a document removes it and its transcript from your device. Uninstalling the app removes all of its on-device data. The small amount of off-device data described above — the purchase record and the anonymous usage counter — can be deleted on request: see our data deletion page. If you would rather a page were never transmitted for processing, simply do not transcribe it — capture and library management work without it.

9. Changes

We may update this policy from time to time, including if we change AI providers. Material changes will be reflected here with a new "last updated" date.
